Description:
A jug from the Garrison Pottery of Sunderland with a striking transfer of HMS Northumberland, the 74 gun ship, launched in 1798 that carried Napoleon to St Helena. On the reverse a sentimental poem about living and dying. Both transfers in monochrome, no overpainting, a very attractive contrast to the pink lustre decoration.
Circa 1840-65
Approx - 7.25 inches (195mm) tall.
In fair condition with stable cracking below neck, no restoration.
